The Watcher Eyes The Binders Game DK Holmberg 9781519006196 Books
Set in the world of the Dark Ability, The Watcher's Eyes continues the thrilling story of the assassin Galen. Fast moving, the story is complete with intrigue and daring deeds, yet DK Holmberg peels another layer of veneer of the main character providing insight into what makes him son unique. I hope the author continues to write about Galen and other characters set in the realm of the Dark Ability. This series is the author's best work to date.Product details

The Watcher Eyes The Binders Game DK Holmberg 9781519006196 Books Reviews
Great story line and series! I enjoy reading your stories because they're interesting and exciting. Book Two of the series was as interesting and exciting as book one. I look forward to reading book three and highly recommend reading this book and series.
D k Holmberg is an excellent writer. He takes your imagination to the point that you can't put your book down and are ready for the next book.
IN A NUTSHELL
The writing is good, but I have to confess to a level of frustration because this is really more of a teaser than it is a complete story. Another way to put it, this is a page turner that kept me coming back for more story but, as I drew near the end of the file, I found there to be no ending, but I will certainly read the next story.
Length Print, 67 pages for the entire file, but only about 55 pages is for the main story.
Target Audience/Genre This is Epic Science Fiction/Fantasy
Q - What was the Rank on the date this review was published?
A – 7,665.
Q - How was this book obtained?
A – Borrowed using my Unlimited account.
Q - Is this a book that I can read without having to read others first?
A – Yes.
Q - Are there a lot of typos/misspellings, grammatical errors or other editing failures?
A – No.
Q - Is this a fast, easy read or is it more of a leisure read?
A – This is a very fast, easy read. Ideal for carpool commutes.
Q - What sort of language does this writer use to amplify the points made?
A – Plain English with few profanities. No f-bombs at all.
Q - My biggest pleasure or disappointment?
A – The opening is good. I like that it has a familiar feeling, similar to that posed in a Western, a Mystery, or an Action-Adventure, as well as the Science Fiction story that it is. The subtle, ever-so-slight differences almost sneak by. This familiarity is what tends to suck the reader in.
To give a feel for the editing, and the style and flow of this work, I am posting a brief excerpt below.
Excerpt
“The streets have been dangerous lately,” the healer went on. “Especially those around Shengard. As an assassin, I’m sure that you know the area.”
I blinked slowly, fatigue from the steady drip loss of blood making me lightheaded. Was the healer telling me what I needed to know to find Natash? “I think I can find it.”
The healer nodded. “You haven’t told me where you learned this technique.”
“It’s not the first time,” I answered. “My mentor was injured and this was the only thing that could save him.”
“Did he survive?”
I nodded. The injury had changed him, not the blood. Isander had been hard before taking the sword to the chest, but he was also fair. The recovery had been slow, but after he came around, he had been almost cruel. That was around the time I decided it was time for me to move out on my own. Isander hadn’t stopped me; I’m not sure that he could have stopped me at that point, or that he wanted to try.
Talia took a breath. It was weak, but she breathed.
I nodded to the healer and she pinched the reed as I eased the needle from my arm. She pulled the other from Talia and handed the reed to me. I took the needles and wiped them off before replacing them in my pouch.
The healer ran her hands over Talia’s arms and her neck, pulling up the dressing to…

Bottom Line
I almost felt cheated by the fading out of one story, minus some ending to it, then abruptly launching into another story that I chose not to read. Instead, I immediately returned the file and commenced to writing this review. I might read something else by this writer, because the flow, pacing and descriptive skills were good. But I will scrutinize the description first, to be certain the story has a beginning, middle and ending.
Note that I said I almost felt cheated. I didn’t actually feel so, since I got it through KU and because it was billed as 67 pages, so my investment in time was not so extensive. Because of that, I am rating this at four stars. My preference though, would be to give it only 3-1/2 stars. I hope this helps you decide.
Comments regarding your opinion of this book or of my review, whether favorable or unfavorable, are always welcome. If you buy the book based on my review and become disappointed, especially, I do want to know that and I want to understand how I can improve as a book reviewer. Just please be polite.
